On the 19th of February London once again hosts its very own fashion week. Designers and brands come from all over the world to represent and release new lines. Generally the companies that attend are very well know and respected in the industry…Featured on the other hand is not…yet.
Here is the plan, I have organized for myself and a few friends (local misfits) to gate crash London Fashion week! As Featured is an underground label underground will be the theme, we are going to carry out a number of photo shoots on the tube itself and even a cat walk to show the big companies that we don’t really care…they can do their thing and we WILL do ours.
I know that the male fashion day is really on the 24th but we are real people with normal jobs and therefore need to do it over the weekend…so neerrrr I did know.

Just wanted to put up a small blog post saying thank you to all that rated the Bear tee on the SmartGeezer.com fashion blog, we have a rating of 4.5 out of 5 which I’m pretty chuffed with. New blog out later this week so keep checkin’ in!!
Last week I was chatting to a friend from Ireland about life and random rubbish…as one does, he then mentioned the tee’s and we got talking fashion and he quizzed me in regards to Featured Clothings main target markets. I responded stating that I would never want to tie it down to select groups and that I would like anyone to wear it and in their own way. We discussed its style and what brands it is similar to. The conversation died down for a moment or two as he went away, he then came back very excited and said, “Dude check out…Jerkin’.”
He forwarded me a link to an article in the New York Times titled, “Hip-Hop’s new steps,” (the web address to the article is posted below) I began to read and soon after I spent hours frantically searchin’ and watchin’ video’s on Youtube. I soon found out that this craze started in the latter months of 2008, it was a fresh dance to go hand in hand with the retro simple beat Hip-Hop that had started to reappear. The dance itself is a collaboration between swaying and jigging and some might say it is the old, “Running Man,” move just in reverse…well it is but extremely cooler. Its hard to put this down to words and I know you are probably thinkin’, “what is this muppet on about,” well if you will watch the vid below you will get the gist.
This is a music video was created and performed by the New Boyz, a duo now recognized throughout the USA as a product of the Jerkin’ scene. New Boyz performing, “You’re a Jerk!”
As a massive Hip-Hop follower myself I was so happy with this new sound, dress code and vibe. Both the music scene and fashion seem as if they have been given a breath of phresh air, (see the pun) the clothes have become brighter, more fun and light hearted. In the past the culture had a strong reflection to gang society with bulletproof vests and camouflage clothing, but now it seems that the mood has flipped and instead of promoting strength and power, its as if its promoting street family and havin’ fun!
Once again I’m not sayin’ that Featured is a Jerkin’ fashion…its what ever you want it to be, but I want to express my support for this new movement, a new scene that has pushed away from promoting violence and crime and instead promoting fun, friendship and a FUNKY STYLE!!!!
So please spread the word of Jerkin’!!!

Just having a little celebration on my own by eating rice pudding to celebrate our first product mention. The well know fashion blog, Smart Geezer has posted the Yellow Bear tee on its website for all to see…so check it out!
Over the last week or so I have been working on the second range which will be launched around July this year, I doodled a simple style of font which I love…it has something to do with the fact that I am simple I think. The second range will stay true to the funky theme of Featured but it will also branch out with new styles from new designers.
The image below shows the doodle put through a design program, it’s not yet finished but I get so excited I just had to put it up.
Over the next few months I will be putting more and more designs up, they may not be included in the second range but they will have contributed to its creation. Anywhoooooooo I’m waffling on…
I had a little talk with someone about the ancient art form of tea brewing, how it had descended thousands of years and is now common ground for a large percentage of the world, a place where we can unite and be equal. Basically this person who will remain nameless produced a cup of tea…well if you could call it that, it was a poor effort, I have now had to put this person into my no hoper section of my friends lists. So it got me thinkin’, if you can get colour charts for cooking meat then somewhere some crazy mo fo would have done the same for tea…and they did!!!
This is by far the best thing I have seen in years, no longer will extra stress be forced upon me with fear that my next cup of tea may not hit the spot, no longer will we have to take the tea and the creator back to the kitchen to show them how…I see a glimmer of hope for mankind and a giant leap in evolution.
I suppose I could just make my own cups of tea in the future…nah.
Just woke up and opened the sketch book…nothing came to mind, so I brushed my teeth cos my mouth had a fuzzy feelin’. I went back to the pages and still had nothing so I slowly turned on the laptop after watchin’ a few episodes of, “Everybody Loves Raymond,” during which I chuckled a bit. I started to search around for cool stuff and stumbled on a few things…not my style but still created by some very talented people.
The first that caught my eye was French street artist JR. He has been painting giant eyes on the sides of the hillside favelas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The effect is that the perched shantytowns appear to be staring out at the city’s uptown high condos nearby. The concept behind this project made me laugh some much!
The second is new to me, (well apart from the rave paint idea) but I still thought was pretty funky and yet strange. The artists 25 goes by the name of Rémy and yes he now likes to draw on women…it’s ok I know what your thinking, how does one decide to do this? Well I will let you know, he got designer/doodle block staring at his white canvas, it was the sight of his ex girlfriend getting out of the shower that made it click…after a few glasses of wine they were…drawing! Rémy’s artwork is cool and along with the photography and canvas choice I think they make a perfect piece, something I will keep looking back on and continue to follow in the near future.
The third and final artist I came across (final cos I need to do some work) is a French artist called Liliwenn, this work is more my taste and style, real to life with an urban vibe. You can see yourself that Liliwenn is gifted…so I will leave it at that, I mean what more can I say!
Sup sup yall, I hope you had a great Christmas Day and a very very mellow Boxing Day I know I did. Todays post is an answer to a couple of emails. A few Featured follows have found it a bit trikcky in locating the online store link so to takle this little problem I have stuck a big button named, “Shop,” near the top of the page on the right hand side…and if you still have a problem…its PURPLE.
Anywhooooo I have some more festive missions to attend to…but stay in touch because in the next few days I will be sticking up a new tee design and would like your input.

Hear me now…I have just stumbled over some skating footage on youtube of this guy, Billy “Fish” O’Neil and he is freakin’ mental. I had forgotten about my lost culture but never again. I know Featured Clothing does not tie itself to any particular scene but if it did skating would be one of those scenes purely for the fact that there is no rivalry or bitterness in this sport…and no knobbing chavs.
So I have selected a few scenes of Billy O’Neil for you to stare at, and take in the style and determination of this sport…also the first clip Billy gets hit by a car, I have no clue how he does it!!
